He was an Infarmed employee between 2008 and 2021. At the Competent Authority he started functions in 2008 in the regulatory area (Medicines Evaluation Department), where he remained until 2013. On that year he transferred to Infarmed’s Inspection Unit, where he remained until the end of 2021, having carried out hundreds of inspection actions. During this period he issued dozens of technical-scientific opinions. He was an inspector of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) – including on behalf of the EMA (European Medicines Agency) –, of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) – also as a manager –, of Hospital Pharmaceutical Services – also as a manager –, of Community Pharmacies, of Over-the-counter (OTC) Medicine Stores and of Marketing Authorization Holders (MAH). He also managed the existing protocol between Infarmed and the Tax and Customs Authority. He participated in several events as a speaker, trainer and representative of Infarmed, as well as in working groups organized by several European and International Agencies and in collaboration projects with other Competent Authorities and governmental bodies. Before joining Infarmed, he worked at the Biomolecular Diagnostic Laboratory of the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), having also briefly worked as a pharmacist in a community pharmacy. |

At the Competent Authority he performed the functions of inspector in the Inspection Unit, with special focus on the areas of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP), Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP), of Hospital Pharmaceutical Services, of Community Pharmacies, of Over-the-counter (OTC) Medicine Stores and of Marketing Authorization Holders (MAH), having carried out during this period hundreds of inspection actions (including on behalf of EMA - European Medicines Agency). He was also responsible for issuing dozens of technical-scientific opinions within the scope of these areas. He also took on the management of various inspection processes, namely Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and Hospital Pharmaceutical Services. He was part of working groups organised by several European and International Agencies, as well as collaboration projects with other Competent Authorities. He also participated in several events as a speaker, trainer and representative of Infarmed. Before joining Infarmed, he briefly worked as a pharmacist in a Community Pharmacy. |
